For this test, two identical sandstone targets were prepared. A test apparatus was configured to test-fire a conventional shaped charge of known performance with and without a ReCo® Propellant Cap. The test was conducted at room temperature and atmospheric conditions.

After the sandstone targets were perforated, molten aluminum was poured into the target entry holes to create a mold of the perforation tunnels. The results show that the charge with ReCo® Propellant Cap created a tunnel with significant improvement in both penetration and perforation tunnel volume. The mold from the charge shows the presence of a fractured-wing along one axis of the target.
